I wanted something that incorporated my Minnesota roots as well as portrayed the vibe my unique jewelry brings to any outfit. My husband actually came up with the name Aqua Essence Co and it felt very me, so it stuck!

Aqua represents all of Minnesota’s lakes (as well as my all-time favorite color) and Essence portrays the spirit that jewelry truly can transform a look.

All products are handmade with lots of love and dedication (and consequently time) with the goal in mind to bring more joy to my customers’ lives.

Aqua Essence Co’s mission is to empower women to let their individuality shine through in their every day looks. Why? Because all women deserve a chance to express themselves with their jewelry, even those of us with sensitive skin!

Hi, I’m Kaila Illsley!

I live with my wonderfully loving husband, Hunter, our beautiful blessing of a daughter, Kinley, and two adorable Yorkies, May and Ivy, in Minnesota.

I started this business originally as a part time passion back in 2021 alongside my full time role as a social media strategist. Quickly passions shifted and I worked towards becoming a full time artist entrepreneur. Fast forward to the spring of 2024 and I made that dream a reality!

It’s always been a joy of mine to create, but it is extra special to find customers who adore my works of art as much as I enjoy creating them!

As someone with very sensitive skin, quality over quantity has always been my number one priority. That starts with good materials!

For earrings, I primarily work with polymer clay. It’s a great material if you’re someone like me that doesn’t want to wear heavy jewelry but still likes to wear fun earrings! It also makes for very durable jewelry. A few other earring materials I have branched out into are wood, acrylic, faux leather, and macramé cord. As someone with sensitive ears myself, I make sure to only use sterling silver or stainless steel for the metal components of my earrings. Additionally all earrings are lightweight so you won’t ever have to worry about your earlobes getting stretched out!

Most of my bracelets are made from genuine semi-precious stones in a variety of beautiful colors. Some of the most popular stones are Tiger’s Eye, Agate, Malachite, and Jasper.

I gather most of my inspiration from nature. God created no two things in nature the exact same and that’s the beauty of buying handcrafted goods as well. We’re all unique one of a kind humans, so why not accessorize like it?

Additionally I find the naturally intricate features of the world hold the artistic elegance I desire for each piece while simultaneously commanding attention. That essence is exactly what I want each person wearing my jewelry to feel.
